Path of Exile dropped a short teaser for its next league over the weekend. The league is called Curse of the Allflame, and the video points toward a boat or ocean-themed setting with hints of new curse-related mechanics.
Grinding Gear Games confirmed the full reveal will happen during their live stream on July 16, with the league launching on July 24. This puts it just one day after Grim Dawn’s expansion releases. The teaser is mostly atmospheric rather than showing specific systems. The ocean direction has already started some speculation about new traversal or water-based content.

For players, the timing creates a bit of a decision point. With Grim Dawn’s expansion landing the day before, some people who play both games will have to figure out how they want to split their time. Others might focus on one and check the other later.
The critical question may be how substantial this league will feel once it arrives. Recent Path of Exile leagues have had mixed results when it comes to long-term player retention. If the Curse of the Allflame mechanics end up feeling thin or overly gimmicky, interest could drop off faster than usual. On the other hand, GGG has a track record of delivering strong mechanical changes when they put real effort in.
Whether Curse of the Allflame is enough to pull players away from Grim Dawn’s long awaited new expansion will likely depend on what GGG has been keeping out of sight. We’ll find out more when the full reveal arrives on July 16. What will you be playing on the 24th?
