Patch Notes are out for changes to the the Darkhaven Demo. Servers are set to be updated today February 22, 2026 at 1:00PM ET
This “Hardcore” patch introduces HC mode, Endless Dungeon, and more Fast Travel options, along with a ton of QOL, bugfix, and some tuning for a better demo experience!
Warning!
We havenโt implemented single-player save versioning yet. Your offline single-player world state wonโt carry over after the patch. If you have a game in progress, you may want to finish it before patching.
Highlights

โ You can now use dungeon entrances as waypoints from within the dungeon or from the overworld once youโve been inside (see Dungeons below)

Stability
โ Fixed several crash bugs
Gameplay
โ Added Hardcore character option
โ Hardcore characters are segregated from non-hardcore characters in multiplayer
โ Renamed difficulty levels, set default difficulty to โJourneymanโ
โ Heroes now start with a flask on โPeasyโ and โJourneymanโ difficulties
โ Decreased enemy damage in โPeasyโ and โJourneymanโ difficulties
โ Necropolis growth is slowed for โPeasyโ, โJourneymanโ, and โNormalโ difficulties
โ Reduced the cooldown and increased the healing rate for all flasks
โ Known issue: these benefits do not apply to flasks acquired prior to the patch
โ Heroโs mana is restored on respawn
Skills
โ Fixed an issue where skills for level 8 characters were being reset to level 1
โ Increased skill cap from 7 to 9
โ Decreased the amount of terrain damage done by Spine Breaker
โ Blood Lash – Red Embrace now has a 50% chance to entangle (instead of 100%)
Graphics
โ Adjusted bloom and fog settings in many overworld areas and dungeons
โ Crypts can now randomly be foggy or not
โ Improved various textures, optimized geometry for various objects
โ Added target FPS option
Movement / Controls / Camera
โ Allow jumping while entangled when in water or air
โ Improved the ability for the character to navigate rough terrain
โ Increased maximum camera pitch (for auto-tilt)
โ Changed algorithm for gamepad controls focusing
โ Unified controller camera controls for gameplay / map / and build modes
โ Allow navigation to empty equipment slots with controller
โ Added zoom function while building
โ Added option to disable camera shake
โ Added camera rotation speed option
UI
โ Ctrl-click to move items from equipment slots to inventory should now work
โ Fixed scroll speed for character and world select UIs
โ Legendary rings should now be the proper size when held by cursor
โ Equipment slots when a dye or socketable item is held on the cursor over an item for which it can apply are no longer colored red
โ Allow click on respawn button when thereโs an item on the cursor when killed
โ Added fixed rotation option for map (lock map to north)
โ Added difficulty selection on single player character creation / removed difficulty slider from home menu
โ Removed spurious WASD settings from controls UI
โ Fixed various options not saving on start
โ Added exit thank you for playing demo dialog
Dungeons
โ Added first-pass โendlessโ dungeon after Narlathak
โ After killing Narlathak, the โEndless Lairโ spawns in a random sector
โ This is a multi-level dungeon that goes down to level 100
โ Note: this is only partially implemented:
โ There is currently no mechanism for resetting it, so if you want to try again, youโll need to create a new world.
โ It does not currently boot you out of the dungeon on death as intended
โ Teleport back to the entrance of a dungeon (from within a dungeon) by clicking on it in the full map
โ Teleport back to the entrance of any dungeon youโve entered (from the overworld) by clicking on it in the full map
โ Bogie dungeon no longer closes unless champion Tyrant is slain
โ Added a signpost explaining shift-click to attack in place / destroy walls in crypts
Mobs / AI
โ Mobs now have reduced aggro and follow ranges vs. players > 3 levels higher
โ Removed strata damage from Disgraced Paladin
Online / Server
โ Temporarily removed public game functionality
โ Restored ability to name worlds
โ Add the last world player visited to world list (even if private)
โ Added intermittent character save in online games
Misc
โ Runes and Runeword items no longer despawn on regular depopulate
โ Fixed various typos
โ Game now properly reports what monster killed you when youโre killed by a projectile or status effect
โ Known issue: environmental deaths are not correctly attributed
